Dubstar
Much like Saint Etienne, Dubstar rode the line between electronic dance music and Indie perfectly.
They had a more pop-influenced sound but lyrically they aspired to be much more.
Forming in Newcastle in 1992 as a two-piece they recruited lead singer Sarah Blackwood in 1993. This decision would elevate them to stardom and they had a number of hit singles including “Stars”, “Elevator Song” and “Not So Manic Now”.
They split up in 2000 but recently reformed, releasing a new album in 2018.
