10 Classic 90’s Movies That Starred Professional Wrestlers

Ed Wood (1994)

Ed Wood George Steele

Ed Wood starred Jonny Depp as the titular filmmaker as he sets out to make some of his biggest films including Plan 9 From Outer Space.

It was directed by Tim Burton and has his typical dark humour running throughout.

Ed wood famously used wrestler Tor Johnson and Tim Burton looked toward another wrestling legend to play him, George “The Animal” Steele

Steele put in a stellar performance as Tor and with the addition of Bill Murray, Patricia Arquette, Sarah Jessica Parker, Martin Landau, and Vincent D’Onofrio this is a genuine classic that you need to see.

Friday (1995)

Zeus in Friday

Friday is one of the funniest films going and it was cult viewing during the 90’s and beyond.

Ice Cube set out to make a comedy take on everyday life for young black men at the time.

Starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker as two friends who end up smoking too much weed that one of them was supposed to sell.

They then have to find a way of making the money back to pay the dealer before he kills them.

It’s way funnier than it sounds and it has an incredible cast including Tiny ”Zeus” Lister as local bully and thief Deebo.

Zeus plays the role brilliantly and you genuinely hate him by the end which just shows how good he is.

The Waterboy (1998)

Big Show in The Waterboy

Adam Sandler’s 1998 comedy about a College Football Waterboy featured some big names in the cast.

Kathy Bates, Henry Winkler, Rob Schneider, and Fairuza Balk all starred in the hilarious film but one name stands out for us.

Yes, it seems appearances from Paul “The Big Show” Wight aren’t so rare after all as he plays Adam Sandler’s hero Captain Insane-O.

His part is pretty funny as he realises the child writing to him for ages actually turns out to be an adult.
