The 11 O’Clock Show
The 11 O’Clock show was a magazine style show that covered the weeks news and did it in a amusing way.
Ian Lee was the main presenter and his co-host Daisy Donovan worked really well together, however it was when Ali G had his segment that had the nation wetting themselves with laughter.
A great show and one that many of stayed up to watch each week.
EuroTrash
Hosted by Antoine De Caunes (of Ra, Ra, Rapido fame) and fashion legend Jean Paul Gaultier this was on quite late on a Friday and was very interesting (Read: Rude, crude and naughty) viewing.
It was hilarious and showed us the quirky and frankly, bonkers side of our European brothers and sisters as we started to integrate more and more.
Now that we’re leaving the EU we wonder if we ever went back would we get this show again to warm us up for it and if so, can we have Going For Gold too for when we’re off work ill?
The Eurovision Song Content
Eurovision is another annual music event and was watched not only by us here in the UK but pretty much everyone in Europe and globally too and still is today.
Terry Wogan was our guide to Eurovision and he was brilliant (as is his successor Graham Norton).
Both are known for their humorous, tongue in cheek commentary before and after the songs and more importantly during the voting results.
Lets be honest, the voting is always a window into how we as a nation are doing diplomatically. Well it feels like that.
Nil Points
Some countries take it incredibly seriously whilst others are funny and get everyone laughing and singing along too with their catchy euro-pop songs.
Play along
Luckily, you can still enjoy this today and the best way to enjoy Eurovision today is to get your friends and family together put on some food and have the shot glasses ready for the grown ups for when we get 12 points and let the kids cast their own votes and scores for each entrant.
You might struggle to get drunk though as its a rare thing to get 12 points.
One thing is for certain, it’s going to be very interesting to see how the UK will do in 2019 and beyond and one we’re all sure to talk about after it happens.
