Capcom’s Darkstalkers is a legendary 2D fighting game series that has captured the hearts of gamers and seen various additions to the series since its initial release in 1994 and is now in development for the humble Megadrive/Genesis.
The game is set in a supernatural world where players control a cast of vampires, werewolves, and demons as they battle for supremacy in “Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge.”
The game features Lucious anime-inspired graphics and had a diverse cast of characters, Darkstalkers has established itself as a fan-favourite in the fighting game genre. The game’s combo-heavy mechanics and fast-paced gameplay have earned it a place in the annals of gaming history, solidifying its status as a true cult classic.
You would have been justified in thinking that in no way could it be done on the the Megadrive, well, an early build and preview is out now for you to test it out.
How Far Along In Development Is Darkstalkers?
The version featured in the video below is as mentioned an early build but already you can see fantastic animation, and vibrant colours popping out of the screen.
Only two characters (Morgan and Demitri) are semi-playable at present and it will crash when certain actions are triggered, however its great to see that along side all the other games coming out on the Megadrive we can now add Darkstalkers to the roster of the console that keeps on giving.
Naturally this is a work in progress so as to when it will be out is anyone’s guess at the moment but one we’re looking forward to seeing. How about you?
