War of The Worlds is without doubt one of the most influential Sci-Fi books ever made.
Thanks to the ongoing popularity of the story of Alien Invasion throughout the years we viewers have been treated to a fantastic movie in the ’50’s, a not so fantastic remake with Tom Cruise and more recently a period retelling of the story from the BBC back in 2019.
So, it may come as a bit of a surprise that a new version of the classic tale starring Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects, End of Days) is on its way thanks to FOX although it first came out in places like France last year.
Here’s the trailer for it.
As you can see, the Aliens are invading modern day Europe and London seems to feature heavily in the trailer as it did in the H.G. Wells original. It seems to be more focused on the aftermath as there wasn’t really much footage of the Aliens.
Overall, it will be interesting to see what new things this version of War of The Worlds will bring that hasn’t already been covered before.
It might be a new series but if we know the ending already then whats the point?
That is unless the journey to it is completely different to warrant a watch which we can only hope is true as we’ll have eight episodes to find out.
When Is War Of The Worlds Out?
War of The Worlds starts on Thursday 5th March 2020 in the UK. It will be on FOX and also on NOW TV for those that like to catch-up without the TV ads.
