Those awesome people at Bitmap Books must be celebrating today. Why you may be asking?
Well, in one day their new Kickstarter for The Unofficial SNES/Super Famicom: A Visual Compendium book smashed through its £25,000 target and is, at the time we published this, sitting at way over £130,000 with 25 days still to go!
The book is an unofficial celebration of one of Nintendo’s greatest consoles which came out in the UK 25 year ago (April 11th 1992 if you really want to know) and backers can pledge for a whole host of extra perks depending on how much they want to spend.
Some of the pledges also come with your name in the book which has been a regular thing since the first compendium book, which was on the 8 bit Commodore 64 and has continued from there so if you’ve always wanted to get your name in print this is an easy way to do so!
The unofficial book focuses on the pixel art, graphic and product design of the system, however there will be contributions from those that were there making the games at the time and some of the backers will be able to have their say in the book too.
We love these kind of things at Retroheadz, mostly because they document and remind us of a great care free time in life where the most important thing of the day was to beat M.Bison in Streetfighter 2 and this book if its like the previous ones on the C64, Amiga and NES will fill you with nostalgic joy as you read through the book.
Heck, you might even learn some stuff too about the mighty SNES!
If you want to support the Kickstarter or find out more then just head on over to the page here.
As its thoroughly gone past its original funding goal to go ahead we hope they’ll be some awesome stretch goals which if you don’t know are extra perks alongside the one you choose on your pledge.
Delivery of The Unofficial SNES/Super Famicom: A Visual Compendium is expected in November 2017 but backers will be updated throughout.
