Flying Battery Level in Sonic Mania Takes us Back to the 90’s

Dear Sega... Just take our money NOW!

Sega really seem to be pushing nostalgia with Sonic the Hedgehog at the moment. It wasn’t too long ago that we reported on the nostalgia filled Green Hill Zone which will feature in the Sonic Forces later on this year.

Now they’ve gone and given all of us a preview look at a new level in the upcoming Sonic Mania which all respectable Retroheadz should be looking forward to the most this year.

Why? Well it looks like the best Sonic game to come out in years, well, since the awesome Megadrive era game because it looks just like the original Megadrive/Genesis games.

If you don’t believe us check out the video of Act 1 of the Flying Battery Zone.

As you can see it features Knuckles the Enchidna, one of the three playable characters, climbing and gliding around the level which you’d be forgiven for if you though it was a Megadrive classic that you’re looking at, however, its brand new and coming out at some point in the Summer (says Sega).

It will only be available on digital download for the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, however what would be amazing now that the Megadrive is back in production in Brazil and the fact that new independent games like Paprium and Tanglewood are coming out for the Megadrive/Genesis this year that Sega could find it in their hearts to make it a full blown Megadrive cartridge release.

Now that will induce Sonic Mania…literally!

Go on Sega, it would make a hell of a lot of 90’s kids ecstatic with joy if you did but if you won’t we’ll happily get it on the current consoles anyway!

We literally cannot wait to get our hands on this oldskool nod to what made Sonic so popular in the first place.
