The Best Arcade Racing and Driving Games Ever

Lucky and Wild

This game is so based on Miami Vice just replace Lucky with Crockett and Wild With Tubs and you’re good to go for some sunny police chase action.

What sets this classic arcade game apart is the fact that one player drives while the other shoots enemies Operation Wolf style. It’s like Chase H.Q with light guns.

It’s all done in some amazing and colourful sprite scaled graphics with not a polygon in sight and it looks stunning if you can find it tucked away in a seaside arcade somewhere as its a rare Namco classic.

Rad Mobile

rad mobile arcade racing classic

Rad Mobile was one of the last sprite scaled arcade racing games from Sega and used a 32-Bit board to run it when it came out in 1991.

It looks ace with its banking curves, variable weather and neat touches such as Sonic the Hedgehog first videogame appearance as the swinging mascot off the rear-view mirror.

It was also heavily featured in California Man (Encino Man in the US) where Brenden Frasers Neolithic character is obsessed with it.

If you can’t find it in the wild then you could get Gale Racer on the Sega Saturn on import as this is Rad Mobile. Why it never came out over this end of the world we’ll never know.
