You can't beat sitting down with your family and playing a good old game. It's when your competitive side really comes out when you try to do all you can to win the game. Come on how many of us have cheated at Monopoly? It seems now days with the younger generation wanting smart phones, tablets and consoles for Christmas and Birthdays, the board game is not as popular as it used to be. So let's take a look back at some of the classic games that we all love and have played over the years. Game Of Life Spin the wheel and race around the board picking what Life you want to take. Monopoly If you land on go collect £200, pick up a chance card and go directly to jail. Race around the board buying property and try not to become bankrupt. Ghost Castle The Haunted House of Horrors, enter Ghost Castle and be the first to climb the creaky stairs to close the coffin lid. Snakes and Ladders Everyone know's how to play this classic board game. The first person that gets to the end of the board is the winner. Head for the ladders because that will send you up the board but look out for the snakes which bring you back down to the bottom. Mouse Trap Go round the board and land on 'Build' spots to start to build your mousetrap and get a slice of cheese. Hurry around the board and catch your opponents mouse before the time runs out. Connect 4 This is a classic easy game, its all in the title you've just got to Connect 4. Operation How steady is your hand? You're going to need a steady hand for this game. Use the tweezers removing parts of the body without setting the buzzer off. Hungry Hippos Cleanup all the marbles using your hungry hippos. The player with the most marbles wins the game. Battleships Prepare to do battle in this classic game of naval strategy. Call out your coordinates and mark your hits and misses. Blockbusters I'll have a P please Bob. Based on the classic 80's TV show with Bob Holness. Answer a question right and place your hexagon on the board and create the winning line. Bed Bugs Another easy game, pick up the bed bugs with your tweezers while the bed vibrates. The person with the most number of bugs is the winner. Dare A great game that was always best played with your friends. Answer the question or perform the dare. Atmosphere The Video board game with the host 'The Gatekeeper'. Try not to get banished to the black hole in your race to the to 'Well of Fears' in the centre to draw out your fear from among those of your opponents in order to win the game. Don't Panic Hit the timer, how quickly can you name three things in the category on your card before you panic and your time runs out. Don't Spill the Beans Be the first player to get rid of your beans. Take it in turns to add your beans to the pot. Just try not to knock the pot and spill your beans in the process. Guess Who Classic guessing game, ask as many questions as it takes to guess the face. Dreamphone The secret admirer board game. Screwball Scramble An obstacle course game where you have to move the ball through the eight hurdles as quickly as possible. Boggle Find as many words as possible on the 4x4 letter grid before the sand timer runs out, the longer the word the higher the score.
